My name is Amanda I'm a 30 yr old mother of 4 I was a very energetic mom always on the go until about 2 1/2 years ago when my body decided to start failing me. I started getting migraines daily so bad that I couldn't get out of bed but thought well they are just headaches I can get through this then one night something scary happened, the left side of my body went numb it started with the pins and needles feeling that you get when you sit on your foot to long and turned into total numbness like you could of stabbed me and I would not have felt it. That feeling was in my left leg arm and side of my face. My husband rushed me to the er thinking the worst did I have a stroke? They did a lot of tests with no real answers an mri that was clear they told us it was an A typical migraine and sent me home. I lived with thinking that I was having A typical migraines for a whole year the symptoms were getting worse the numbness had since spread to my right side as well and would come and go at any time with it came muscle weakness and pain my migraines had increased to about 20 or more a month. In December of 2014 or around then I received a phone call from my sister who was now having similar symptoms and thought hmm maybe its something more she had an mri and was diagnosed with MS (Multiple sclerosis) that diagnosis terrified me we had so many of the same symptoms my mom told us that our grandmother had it as well so I finally caved and made an appointment with a family dr. My first appointment with the family dr lasted well over an hour he listened to everything took me very seriously was very concerned he was amazing I cried with relief we will call me dr M he got me into a Neurologist right away DR T he wasn't as great as dr M but he was a specialist and well I didn't expect him to hug me and tell me everything was ok. I had my mri and the next day I received a phone call saying they saw something and needed to come in the next day my heart sunk I was so worried I cried my husband was a nervous wreck we went into Dr T's office he told us I had white spots called brain lesions which is what my sister had he ordered a spinal tap to see if I had MS too. I went in for my spinal tap and I sure hope I never have to have another one of those the procedure although scary didn't hurt it was the headache that followed it I ended up needing to go back to the er for an epidural blood patch to replace the spinal fluid taken out. The results were negative for ms so back to square one they started me on a medicine to treat my migraines one of many I will try in a course of 2 years one of many that will not work that will make me feel like my body isn't mine that will make me gain mass amounts of weight will make me slur my words and act like a zombie. I saw dr T for awhile until one day he told me he thought I had Lupus and then just walked out of the room leaving me confused scared and clueless. Dr M tested me for Lupus and all was negative he then sent me to an Ms specialist for a 2nd opinion and that is who I'm still seeing today he is Dr G I do not like Dr G I feel he lacks compassion he does not like to be questioned about why he is doing what he is doing. I feel like its my body and I'm going to question everything challenge everything I want to know why I have to have a 3rd mri in a month or why this med is making me gain 20lbs or why I still have zero answers. I see him later in the week for more ms testing but have decided to try a more natural approach on the side. Today I am seeking out the help of a skilled Chiropractor after speaking to them they think they can help and have also begun looking into oils I have stopped all pain medications and am off of all of my terrible brain altering meds except one please stay tuned to see how my journey goes.
